Kailash Satyarthi
Kailash Satyarthi is an Indian children's rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate. He was born on January 11, 1954, in Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh, India.
Satyarthi started his career as an electrical engineer but soon realized his passion for social work. He founded the Bachpan Bachao Andolan (Save the Childhood Movement) in 1980, which is a non-governmental organization that works to end child labor and promote the education of children in India. He has been actively working for children's rights for over three decades.
Satyarthi has conducted several raids and rescues of children who were forced to work in various industries, such as carpet weaving, silk production, and agriculture. He has also been actively involved in promoting the rights of children to education and has been advocating for the implementation of the Right to Education Act in India.
Satyarthi's efforts to end child labor and promote education for children have been widely recognized. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014, along with Malala Yousafzai, for their work in promoting children's rights. He has also received several other awards, including the Defenders of Democracy Award from the Parliamentarians for Global Action and the Freedom Award from the Roosevelt Institute.
Satyarthi continues to be actively involved in his work for children's rights and has been instrumental in bringing the issue of child labor to the forefront of public discourse in India.
